BMBMI (Body Mass Index)A quick screen of whether your weight is healthy for your height, calculated as weight (kg) divided by height (m) squared.BMBMR and TDEEBMR is the calories you burn at complete rest; TDEE adds your activity level to give the calories needed to maintain your weight.COCompound InterestInterest calculated on the original principal plus the interest already accumulated, so your money grows faster over time.CTCTC (Cost to Company)The total amount an employer spends on an employee in a year, including salary, PF, gratuity and other benefits — not the same as take-home pay.EMEMIEquated Monthly Instalment — the fixed amount you pay a lender every month to repay a loan.FIFixed Deposit (FD)A safe bank instrument where you deposit a lump sum for a fixed tenure and earn interest, usually compounded quarterly.GRGratuityA lump-sum payment an employer gives an employee after at least 5 years of continuous service, under the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972.GSGST (Goods and Services Tax)India's single indirect tax on the supply of goods and services, charged at 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%.RERecurring Deposit (RD)A bank scheme where you deposit a fixed amount every month for a fixed tenure and earn interest, usually compounded quarterly.SISIP (Systematic Investment Plan)A way to invest a fixed amount in mutual funds every month, using rupee-cost averaging to smooth out market ups and downs.SWSWP (Systematic Withdrawal Plan)A facility that lets you withdraw a fixed amount from a mutual fund investment at regular intervals for a regular income.TDTDS (Tax Deducted at Source)Income tax that is deducted from your payments — like salary or FD interest — before the money reaches you, and remitted to the government on your behalf.
